Yinon Muallem music school to open

Percussionist and composer Yinon Muallem is opening his own music school in Istanbul, Beyoglu, in April. Courses will include ethnic percussion, body percussion, lute, kanun (a string instrument), baglama (a music instrument with three double strings) and bass guitar as well as rhythm classes for children. 

Muallem will be the instructor at ethnic percussion and lute classes; Hakan Gurbuz will be the instructor in bass guitar and body percussion classes and Mert Demircioglu will be the instructor in kanun classes. 

At the orientation event which will be held in April, all instructors will introduce their classes by giving a brief performance with their music instruments.

The creators of the characters Penga and Menga are Vivet Pitelon Sparkes and her son Jim Sparkes. Also, the illustrations in the "Holidays" series (consisting of 11 books) designed for children, belong to both of them. The stories are written and translated into English (from Turkish) by Vivet.
