David D’Or is coming to Edirne

As part of the upcoming National Foundations Week activities, administrators of Turkish Jewish Community are organizing two events at Edirne Grand Synagogue that has been re-opened two years ago and has been serving both as a synagogue and an arts center hosting various art exhibitions and concerts. With these arts events, Turkish Jewish Community is trying to keep Edirne Grand Synagogue alive while also contributing to Edirne’s cultural life.

The exhibition “Yerusalayim-Kudus-Jerusalem’ which will be opened in May will display photos of photographers Izzet Keribar, Rubi Asa, Vladi Benbanaste, Kemal Eskenazi and Jil Pardo. There will be other photo exhibitions with similar theme during the week as part of National Foundations Week, yet this one is expected to draw greater attention.

At the same week, David D’or, a world-renowned counter-tenor will perform at Edirne Grand Synagogue. Administrators of Turkish Jewish Community aim to bring a world-renowned artist to Edirne every year with the hope to make an impact. There will be a reception held at the Synagogue’s backyard before the concert.

D’or with a repertoire consisting of famous opera tunes and numerous hymns will fascinate both the audience coming from Istanbul and also music lovers from Edirne.
