The Photograph Exhibition “Memories of Edirne Jews” opens in Edirne

The photograph exhibition “Memories of Edirne Jews” organized jointly by Edirne Regional Directorate for Foundations and Turkish Jewish Community opened in Grand Edirne Synagogue.
The Photograph Exhibition “Memories of Edirne Jews” opens in Edirne

The exhibition includes photos of Jewish families who lived in Edirne taken by Niso Kanati in 1940’s and also photos sent from all around the world. Edirne Governor Gunay Ozdemir, Edirne Mayor Recep Gurkan, Director of Edirne Regional Directorate of Foundations Osman Guneren, Deputy President of Turkish Jewish Community Moris Levi were present during the ribbon cutting and openning ceremony. 

At his speech, Osman Guneren said, “Today is a beautiful day. It is the 23rd of April, The 97th anniversary of the opening of Grand National Assembly of Turkey. This important day is celebrated in Edirne with various events. We wanted to contribute to the festivities and here we are opening a new exhibition at Grand Edirne Synagogue. There are 51 photos being displayed here. The exhibition will be open for three weeks. Grand Edirne Synagogue is both a place of worship and a museum.”
