More Awards to UOMO Students

UOMO students, who in the past year have represented their school and Turkey in various national and international competitions, received two new awards at 7th Arel School Active Experiment Contest and Besiktas District Quiz Show. While 7th graders received first prize at 7th Arel School Active Experiment Contest, 6th graders received Jury’s Special Award. Also, 12th graders received second prize at Besiktas District Quiz Show. 

UOMO Lab Teacher Sinem Kahraman stating that lab lessons involve scientific, intriguing experiments and fun activities said, “At lab lessons, with different experiments our students can better comprehend science subjects which they cannot materialize with text books. Most importantly, they learn that trial-and-error and making mistakes are natural parts of the process in reaching a conclusion. They learn to be patient, persistent and they understand that all the wrongs during the process are merely steps that take us to the right. Our goal is for our students to have an interest in science and to make science lessons more fun so our students will enjoy. We plan all our experiments in line with these goals.”

Are You Ready for the Adventures of "Penga and Menga"?

Penga and Menga are two penguins who live far away from our country and are different from each other as day and night. What unites them is their adherence to their Jewish identity and traditions. It is a heartwarming story that narrates the harmony of differences and the friendship that arises from this harmony. The creators of the characters Penga and Menga are Vivet Pitelon Sparkes and her son Jim Sparkes. Also, the illustrations in the "Holidays" series (consisting of 11 books) designed for children, belong to both of them. The stories are written and translated into English (from Turkish) by Vivet.

Ulus Jewish Schools Middle School´s young tech geniuses achieved great success in the 10th Başahşehir Living Lab Innovation Competition. In the competition where 220 projects from all over Turkey have competed with the "Innovative ideas are competing" motto, UÖMO students, standing out from their rivals with their "Natural Disaster Kit", came third in the middle school category.
