‘The Final Hour’ to be Screened in Ulus Jewish School

The documentary ‘Final Hour (La Dalkavo Ora)’, produced by Selim Kemahli, directed by Çağlar Malli, will be screened in Ulus Jewish School, Amram Auditorium, on Sunday November 3rd. The leading actress is Deniz Bensusan and the film’s music was composed by Renan Koen. 

The director, the producer, the composer and some of the actors of the documentary will be attending this special screening, and there will be a chance to have a conversation with them. 

‘The Final Hour’, is about the Sephardic language, Judeo-Espagnol, in other words Ladino, which is about to be forgotten. Director Çağlar Malli, in his 2nd feature film, is taking us to a journey of language and culture. 

The documentary is following a young Sephardic Jewish girl, Deniz Bensusan, who realizes that Ladino, the language of her ancestors, is starting to become extinct. She’s afraid that if Ladino is lost, the community will also lose it identity. Thus, she decides to go on a journey trying to discover her past, her culture, her roots and the Ladino language. The film takes you to an amazing journey, starting from Istanbul and traveling to first Greece and then to Auschwitz, Portugal and finally to Spain where everything had started.
