Hanukkah, Festival of Lights and Miracles
We are lighting the first candle of Hanukkah this evening, on the eve of December 22nd.Hanukkah, the festival of lights and miracles, starts on the eve of Kislev 25 (this year this evening) and goes on for 8 days, with increasing lights.
During Hanukkah, like the other holidays and festivals of the Jewish calendar, we don't just remember and celebrate what had happened at that time in history. We try to learn about the holiday, think about how these have affected our lives today, exchange ideas about it with our family and friends, prepare for the holiday spiritually, thus bringing the light of Hanukkah into our own, our house and our lives.
