Shavuot is ComingThis year Shavuot Holiday will be celebrated on Friday, May 29th, and Saturday, May 30th.
The word Shavuot means 'weeks' in Hebrew. On this day the seven-week of Omer counting between the second day of Passover and Shavuot comes to an end.
The Torah was given to the Jewish people on Mount Sinai 3,332 years ago on Shavuot. Every year on the Shavuot holiday we renew our acceptance of the Torah, as it is given anew. It is customary to stay up and learn Torah on the first night of Shavuot. Also, it is customary to eat dairy foods on the Shavuot Holiday.
