CHPs Istanbul Mayoral candidate Ekrem Imamoğlu visited Turkeys Chief Rabbi Isak HalevaCHPs Istanbul mayoral candidate Ekrem Imamoğlu, visited Isak Haleva, the Chief Rabbi of Turkey, at the chief rabbinate. In his visit CHP Istanbul deputy, Aykut Erdoğdu also accompanied him.
Rabbi Haleva pointed out that Istanbul has an even greater population than a lot of countries and wished Imamoğlu success in the upcoming elections saying “May God help you.”
Imamoğlu said: “I care a great deal about the diversity and prosperity of Istanbul. We promise a city where each and every one of our citizens, each group is very happy. To be able to fulfill our promise, we will cooperate with our citizens and our Jewish citizens are at the top of this list. They are the veteran owners of this city.”
Chief Rabbi Haleva thanked Imamoğlu on behalf of the Jewish community for his visit and said: “Unity and love. There are two kinds of love. One is the love for God, second is the love for the people. If we can unite these two kinds of love, we can have a wonderful Istanbul and a wonderful Turkey. Hopefully you will succeed."
