The joy of Edirne grows by each day

The Jews who had a chance to pray at the synagogue for a second time shortly after the opening of the Edirne Synagogue during Pesach, continued to spread the joy by filling the Edirne Synagogue once again this weekend.

On Sunday 10th of April, the members of the Hasköy Congregation set off towards Edirne in the early hours of the morning with a group that included the Chairman of the Hasköy Maallem Synagogue Moris Behar, Deputy Chairman Cako Yeruşalmi, Rabbi Yuda Yanni and the cantors and both young and old filled the synagogue with morning prayer. With the participation of the youth of the congregation in the prayer and together with the Jews who had accompanied the busses with their own vehicles the first Rosh Hodesh Tefillah was conducted in the synagogue with a group almost numbering 200 people. Members of the congregation, who also had a chance to catch up with old friends during the trip, returned to Istanbul in the evening accompanied by the good wishes of the locals that “they come back every week” and that “they would be awaiting them”.  The Turkish Jewish Community stated that they were meeting with the Foundation and Charities Regional Directorate in order to plan further activities.
