´Eraser Exhibition´ at Schneidertempel
The ´Eraser Exhibition´ which fifteen young artists, of whom ten are high school and five are university students, have prepared being inspired by the ´Eraser´ object, will be opened on Thursday, October 27th, at the Scneidertempel Arts Center. The young artists, stating that they are displaying their expectations and suggestions about the education system through art, express their thoughts about the 'Eraser (Silgi) Exhibition' by saying:
"Why eraser? Eraser is a commonly used tool in educational practices in Turkey. The use of the eraser gives us essential hints as to the mentality behind the education system. The students are expected to erase the scribblings they make during the learning process; the notebook is expected to be a 'flawless', 'faultless' end product. This, not only is pointing to a result-oriented educational mentality, but the potential within the learning from the mistakes process is being discarded with the eraser. Primarily, there is solidarity in this exhibition, where you shall witness our struggle for existence in a system configured without our opinion being asked. Also, we are promising to surprise you, make you think and smile, but most of all give you hope."
The exhibition will be open for visiting until November 6th.
