Siren Bora´s Book Signing
'Jews of Izmir from Downfall to Rise - Rabbi Hayim Palaçi and His Era', the last book of Siren Bora, the most knowledgeable researcher on the history of the Jewish communities in and around Izmir, is being launched in Etz Hayim Synagogue, Izmir, on Wednesday, May 3rd. There will also be a book signing event on the same day, at 18:30.
Bora, about her book, said, "In writing of this book, which is the work of ten-year research, rather valuable archives such as Izmir Jewish Community Archives, Izmir Ahmet Piriştina City Archive and Museum, Central Archives for The History of The Jewish People in Jerusalem, Sami Kohen Private Archives, Ottoman Archives of the Prime Minister's Office, and Paris Archives Historique de I’Alliance Israélite Universelle were used. In the book, there are names and addresses of the families who had lived in First Juderia [in Izmir], between 1831 and 1922. This book is a collective work that has been created with the contributions of former Izmir Jewish Community President late Sami Azar, former Izmir Jewish Community Vice President late Avram Abuaf, the Izmir Jewish Community Foundation, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality that printed the book, and Izmir Ahmet Piriştina City Archive and Museum.
