The Irresistible Drunkenness of Reading Books

"Books! I need more books!" "Books are my lifeline in the sea of life." "Keep calm and read a book!" "Marry the beast and get that library." "I am a reader. This means I live in a fantasy world with crazy, unrealistic expectations. Thank you for your understanding." "Please feed the bookworm." "Keep calm and hoard books." "So many books, so little time."

I have quoted a few examples of quotes about books that every reader who has acquired the habit of reading books regularly since childhood, can come across on the internet.

I could also say that I've copied the words complimenting books that I have attached to a huge pinboard hanging on the wall of my study room, since I always work by looking at this board. I write and draw being inspired by this pinboard. You can also see a photo of this pinboard above. In this "Bibliobibuli-Commentary", I write to you about the meaning of the word Bibliobibuli and what reading books bring to people.

I left my heart at the library

I have so many hearts, I feel a sense of belonging to books, and I leave one of my hearts in every library I visit. I am a “Bibliobibuli”.Of course, I am a bookworm, someone who loves books, appreciates reading, reads frequently and/or collects books, that is, I am a “Bibliophile”. Sometimes I feel like a “Book Dragon”. I mean, sometimes I want to forget the real world completely and escape into fictional worlds. I feel the passion of collecting and owning books, that is, "Bibliomania", in my bones, and I implement it as much as I can. I am definitely a “Librocubicularist”. I carry a book with me to read not only in bed but everywhere. Am I a “Booktrovert” or what? I admit it, I am. I am very interested in Classical Literature and reading, I am a book lover and sometimes this situation makes me withdraw into myself.

Do I prefer the company of fictional characters over real people? Lately, definitely yes! I have been in love with Tom Sawyer since childhood and yes, I am a "Booknerd", I love reading and discussing books. I'm a “Bookvoyager”, I am a writer on the journey of turning words into stories. It's a deeply personal journey, but the reward I feel when I touch readers' minds and hearts is priceless. I also have “Booktopia”, I too dream of the perfect place to read books. I experience peaceful comfort in my “Biblichor” an environment where I smell the scent of old books. Attention! I made up the word you will read now: I am “Bibliojournalist”. I am a journalist of books. I write book news, book reviews, and book interviews under the title Bibliobibuli in Şalom. Then I am a “Bibliojournalist”. Examples can be multiplied, but you can call me "Bibliobibuli" for short. "Bibliobibuli". It means a book addict who reads too many books, almost to the point of getting intoxicated. It consists of words originating from Greek "biblio" (book) and Latin "bibulous" (drinker, absorber). It is a "bookworm" as you know! Bibliobibuli is called the person whose biggest occupation is reading a lot of books, I'm honored, here you are! Now I'm going to talk about why we should make reading books a part of our lives.

People were hurtful, I escaped to books

Books pave the way for lifelong learning. It offers its readers a wide repository of information on almost every subject. You can dive deep into history, science and philosophy, you can travel to unimaginable adventures from the comfort of your couch, you can create new fascinations and new areas of interest. You can ventilate yourself by turning yourself inside out. You can do fall cleaning, spring cleaning, and let your mind and soul breathe. Then you can set sail for new readings again. You can make new discoveries. You are being renewed. I follow the Latin words that Michelangelo said when he was 87 years old: "Ancora imparo / I'm still learning."

Reading a book is dreaming with your eyes open

Reading a good book and embracing what it tells, saves you, albeit temporarily, from your concerns about the life that you have nurtured and polished within you, and provides you with a comfort zone to relax. Is there some kind of mental escape? Why not? It reduces the stress of the reader, that's for sure!

I need endless coffee, non-stop rain, and lots of books

Books offer their readers a lively world of words, and when you start reading regularly, they create a wide vocabulary for you. You start to understand more easily. You can communicate with people more easily. It develops your skills and abilities. You get a wide range of ideas.

I love people whose way to their hearts is through books

Reading books increases our creativity. It exposes us to new ideas, broad discussions, and deep thought processes. Since our creativity is activated, it increases our ability to solve the problems that life presents us with. Now come and read a book! Being without a book is not possible.

Reading is freedom

The books we read direct us to do research. By doing research, we keep our minds active and busy. We strengthen our memory. Reading sharpens our cognitive functions. Reading liberates us. Let's read!

Books don't run out of battery and don't get commercials in between

How fast time flies and we live in a fast-changing world! We encounter elements that will distract us all the time. Our focus shifts, and we cannot concentrate. When we read books, the act of reading allows us to focus and concentrate for a long time. Reading books improves our existential abilities. Books never run out of battery, and they don't include commercials between the lines you read. You can read with a calm mind. Keep calm and read a book!

Bibliotherapy is a must!

While many people I know, and of course myself, are trying to cope with the problems that life brings, we keep our souls alive and our minds healthy by reading books. As you know, there is a saying in social memory called “Education is a must”, I am changing and increasing it: “Bibliotherapy is a must!” Reading books heal our painful parts and we can develop empathy. It gives different perspectives. We dive into a deeper sea of understanding or escape surfing the surface of human relationships. We can sail to new cognitive understandings.

Need a chat? Read a book, you will relax

Books offer their readers a huge treasure trove of topics to open conversations among people, help establish connections between them, and strengthen existing connections. It enriches discussion environments. Books live and keep their readers alive.

I've collected many good friends, they're all lined up on my bookshelf

Each book is a portal to a brand-new world. Many stories, characters, and fantastic worlds enter through that portal taking the reader to different times and different realities. You experience fantastic journeys in your comfortable space. You make new fictional friendships. I have accumulated many good friends, for example, they are all lined up on my bookshelf.

While reading a good book, prepare a coffee for the author

The best coffees and the most aromatic teas deserve to be drunk while chatting with good friends. When you see that the book you are reading has fascinated you, get up. Prepare a coffee for yourself and a coffee for the author of that book. There is no joy like chatting in mutual sentences. Then you realize that just as your communication skills have increased, your writing skills will also increase. You are evolving towards stronger writing skills. Let yourself drift into the quality sleep that will visit you at the end of a good reading. Get a good rest so that when you wake up, you can start reading brand-new books.

Pro captu lectoris habent sua fata libelli

Books have their own will, just as they have their own destiny. I love this Latin saying and I write it everywhere; I have it on my pinboard as well: “Pro captu lectoris habent sua fata libelli” – “books have a fate depending on the reader” or “the fate of a book depends on the intelligence of its reader.” Enjoy reading...

With friendship from Bibliobibuli.
