Contemporary Istanbul is the leading art fair in Turkey, which takes place every September. The fair provides a venue to display Istanbul’s flourishing art stage, for the growing art market and collectors. In addition to this, Contemporary Istanbul offers an approach to the best contemporary art from a wider point of view.

Sponsored by Akbank for the past 13 years, Contemporary Istanbul, is hosting galleries, collectors, artists, art enthusiasts, academics and critics between September 12-15, at the Istanbul Congress Center and the Rumeli Hall at the Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar Convention and Exhibition Center.

The artistic director of Contemporary Istanbul is Anissa Touati, a curator and researcher. Touati brought to the fair 7 independent art projects from Malta, Azerbaijan, France and Lebanon, besides the existing guest countries. As soon as she has assumed her new position, she set up an international committee consisting of names as Julie Boukobza, one of the curators of Luma Foundation which supports contemporary art in Switzerland and Nicholas Trezzi, the director of Contemporary Art Center in Tel Aviv. 

14th Contemporary Istanbul is featuring 74 galleries from 23 countries, 510 artists and more than 1400 artworks.
